Divisional Committees:


Emergency & Risk Management Committee

Dr. Larry Faerman, Chair

It is the mission of the Emergency & Risk Management Committee to advise and assist the Division of Student Affairs in promoting an environment that is safe from recognized hazards for faculty, staff, students, and guests. The goal will be to mitigate risk by bringing forward best practices, updating repair and replacement plans, advancing capital improvement projects, as well as continual review of policies and procedures related to emergency and risk management.


Staff Development Committee

The Staff Development Committee is responsible for staff development opportunities that promote the active engagement of Student Affairs staff in personal and professional growth. The committee is dedicated to the development of a common understanding of Student Affairs, a culture of excellence and innovation and the adaptation of current trends and knowledge where the entire FAU community thrives.

Career Center Faculty Advisory Board

Jennifer Fabricius, Chair

The FAU Career Center Faculty Advisory Board is a distinguished group of dean and faculty members representing eight colleges at FAU. The board members serve in an advisory capacity and support the FAU Career Center's mission, services and programs. The board is committed to ensuring that FAU students and the Career Center have optimal and mutually beneficial interactions.



Employer Advisory Council (EAC)

Mitchel Roshel, Chair

The Employer Advisory Council (EAC) at Florida Atlantic comprises industry leaders who provide strategic guidance to align our programs with current workforce demands. They facilitate valuable networking opportunities, enhancing job and internship prospects for our students. Additionally, the EAC advocates for our Career Center, promoting the benefits of hiring our graduates within their organizations and sectors. It meets annually.



Internship Advisory Council (IAC)

Cristina Lopez, Chair

Purpose:

Florida Atlantic University launched a cross-functional, institution-wide Internship Advisory Council in Spring of 2022. The purpose of the FAU Internship Advisory Council is to develop best practices for institution-wide internships and experiential learning. The FAU Internship Advisory Council brings together appropriate faculty and staff to further identify, review, capture, and report internships and other experiential learning programs and opportunities for FAU students.

Goal:

To help expand and grow internships and experiential learning opportunities for more Florida Atlantic students.


Leadership Advisory Committee

Donald VanPelt, Chair

The purpose of the Leadership Advisory Committee is to provide comprehensive university-wide LEAD program collaboration, awareness and decision making. Further, the committee will work to create widespread buy-in and engagement in our opportunities from the moment a student steps on campus at FAU until their graduation.


Military & Veterans Student Advisory Team

Donald Gabriel, Chair

The purpose of the Military and Veterans Student Advisory Team is to identify divisional and University resources specific to the needs of student veterans. The advisory team works collaboratively to provide a comprehensive approach to Student Veterans services at Florida Atlantic University.


B-Team

Maura Flaschner, Chair

Mission Statement: The mission of the B-Team is to streamline the student onboarding experience and increase student yield through comprehensive services coordination and improved enrollment programs, policies and practices.



Student Advisory Boards:


Campus Recreation Advisory Board

Warren Shaw, Chair

The mission of this board is to involve user groups, primarily students, in the planning, organization and administration of recreational programs. This will include but not be limited to: maintenance and custodial services; finances; student employment; professional staffing; programming and general policy making; and long-range planning (facilities, programs, staffing/personnel, and policies) of the associated areas.


Student Health Advisory Council

Sean Seedial, Chair

The purpose of the Student Health Advisory Council is to ensure quality healthcare and health education for FAU students by promoting wellness throughout the University community. The council serves as a liaison between the student body and Student Health Services, assists in formulating new ideas and the development of new programs that will enhance the quality of service of Student Health Services, and reviewing suggestions and complaints regarding campus healthcare operations in order to make recommendations to the Student Health Service administration.


Student Media Advisory Board

Addiel Gomez, Chair

The Division of Student Affairs in collaboration with Student Government has established a Student Media Advisory Board (SMAB). The mission of the SMAB is to uphold the principles of student media at Florida Atlantic University (FAU) and fulfill the following SMAB primary purposes (as further described in the SMAB charter):

  1. Provide advisory guidance and support to student media at FAU through the professional and practical expertise of its members;
  2. Advise the student media under its purview, and promote the highest standards of journalism and broadcast communication; safeguard the interests, including financial stability and editorial independence, of student media; and ensure that those media are responsive to the needs and concerns of the University community


Student Union Advisory Board

Chris Hall Lynch, Chair

The Student Union Advisory Board is a vehicle for student, faculty, staff and other users of the FAU Student Union to provide guidance and support for the effective operation and growth of the Student Union organization and facilities.


Davie Student Union Advisory Board

Nori Carter, Chair

Davie Student Union Purpose: The Davie Student Union (DSU) shall provide a center for community at Florida Atlantic University, enhancing and complementing activities in pursuit of the educational purposes of the University. The DSU shall remain student oriented by providing employment, involvement, and governance opportunities to students; operate within the physical capabilities of the facilities; and maintain a sound financial basis.


VPSA Advisory Board

Dr. Larry Faerman, Chair

The purpose of the VPSA will be to advise the Vice President for Student Affairs on matters related to developing, promoting and enhancing campus life at FAU.


FY Commuter Student Task Force

Donald VanPelt, Chair

The purpose of the Commuter Student Task Force is to advise the FAU leadership efforts related to Commuter Student Services on matters such as programs, services, and initiatives for students who live off-campus during their first and second years. The task force meets twice per month to assist in formulating new ideas and action planning related to developing, promoting and enhancing the quality of life for FAU commuter students.
